The history of Riese & Müller began in 1988, when Markus Riese and Heiko Müller met during their first day of mechanical engineering, it became a friendship based on a shared passion for cycling and travelling that later laid the foundation for the Riese & Müller brand.

During one of their trips, they decided that together they wanted to make a difference in the world of cycling. Thus, in 1992, the Birdy, a folding bike, was born. This innovation quickly conquered the world and in 1994-1995 formed the basis for the brand as we know it today.

Since its foundation, Riese & Müller has reached several milestones. The range has grown considerably and in 2008 they introduced their first speed pedelec. This move proved to be a great success and between 2009 and 2018, they grew into a major player in electric mobility.
