This calculator is based on the prices from the Lease a Bike platform. These are both visible to the employee and employer. For employees of companies where the standard process (Tenders) has been deviated from, the calculations may be different and the Lease a Bike Support Team will always have to be contacted for the correct calculations. In addition, it is also possible that your lease bike has been stolen in the last 24 months, in which case other takeover prices will also apply for the bike. Powered by Lease a Bike.

How it works

1

Discuss it internally

Discuss with your employer your preferred option for ending the contract. In fact, there are several options available beyond "buying out" the lease contract.

2

Confirmation of contract termination

Lease a Bike will confirm the contract termination by e-mail to you and your employer. If the bike is not taken over, we will inform you further about the next steps.

3

The contract will be terminated

The lease is terminated as of the specified date. Have you chosen to take over the bike? Then you will own the bike from that moment. Have you chosen to return the bicycle? Then make sure the bike is returned to the bike shop before that date.

Your employer will deduct the cost of early termination from your final settlement. If you have any questions about this, contact your employer.

Most frequently asked questions

How did the calculator calculation above come about?

The calculation is based on the remaining lease terms of the contract and the lease cost.

Example:

The lease contract started on 01-08-2021 and you leave employment on 01-12-2023. 16 months have passed, which means there are 20 remaining months.

Then we look at the bike lease amount (including accessories). You can always find this amount on the lease contract in the platform (contracts > download lease contract). The costs for the service and insurance package are not part of the settlement.

Calculation:

  • Remaining lease instalments: 20
  • Lease amount bicycle including accessories: €100 incl. VAT
  • Residual value of bike: 20%
  • Purchase value of bike: €2,500

Cost of remaining lease instalments: 20 x €100 = €2,000
Costs of taking over the bike: 20% x €2,500 = €500
Total settlement: €2,500 incl. VAT.

Will the service & insurance part also be ended or will it still continue until month 36?

As soon as a lease contract has been ended, the service & insurance part also stops. From this date, the lease bike is no longer insured against damage or robbery. Service and maintenance can also no longer be carried out from then on.

We also definitely recommend that employees insure their own bike and maintain it properly for years of cycling enjoyment.

Is it allowed for the employee to have another service maintenance done before the lease is terminated and the bike becomes your own?

Of course this is allowed, just make sure this is done before the specified date when the lease is terminated. After that, in fact, it is no longer possible.
