Differentiate yourself as an employer: 1 in 2 employees feel fitter
70% of employees cycle more often and further with a lease bike. Cycling keeps your employees healthy and contributes to sustainability.
By offering the bike scheme as an employer, employees enjoy a tax benefit of at least 25% and it costs you nothing as an employer.
The bicycle is the most requested fringe benefit in the Netherlands! The lease bike is free of charge and outside the WKR.
Your employees can choose any bike they want. A city bike or e-bike, an e-bike or even a speedpedelec
As an employer, you can make the bike scheme even more attractive by making a monthly contribution to the bike. This can be done at no extra cost. There are two scenarios:
1. Cost-neutral:
The monthly bicycle lease amount is deducted from the employee's gross salary. Due to the temporary reduction of the gross salary, the employer pays less social insurance wage. As a result, you save an average of €20 per month per lease bike. So this way, you can contribute in a cost-neutral way.
2. Encourage:
Step up a gear and encourage the leased bike by paying part or all of the lease amount as an employer.
76% of employers provide an extra incentive for the leased bike with a contribution. This contribution is always outside the WKR. Calculate the effect of your employer contribution in this calculator. Would you like to know more about how you can offer the scheme attractively within your organisation? Then get in touch.
A year ago, I opted for an electric cargo bike. To my own surprise, I have already travelled 1,200 km on it. My 1.5-year-old son is also a big fan.

Before, I wanted to get from A to B quickly, everything in the car. With cycling, I move even more and really pay attention to my surroundings. I am really converted.

The ascent of Kilimanjaro and the wildlife along the way; it made a deep impression on me. The trip and the training kilometres increased my love for cycling.

No, an employer can sign up for free and use our platform and the documents we provide. A member employer only receives an invoice when a first employee leases a bicycle. This is then only the lease cost (including maintenance and insurance). We are therefore happy to support you in the promotion and communication of this scheme, in order to realise a successful bicycle plan.
No, you can even boost the scheme in a cost-neutral way. For instance, you can choose to reinvest the savings on social charges, which comes to an average of €20 p/m per employee. Optionally, you can take on part or all of the monthly lease costs. So there are no fixed or mandatory costs for the employer.
Yes, it is possible to use the bike only privately. There is no set minimum determined for commuting use. We provide a document that allows you to easily record key agreements with your employees via our platform, such as costs, responsibilities and early termination.
Most employers give any savings that occur back to the employee; the travel allowance that lapses is converted to a (gross) contribution to the lease bike. The same applies to savings on social security contributions. On average, an employer saves around €20 per month per employee in social security contributions. In this way, it is cost-neutral for the employer and financially interesting for the employee. Lease a Bike has a white paper that fully explains the social security savings with example calculations.
If an employer also has the budget to incur costs for the bike plan, an employer makes an average contribution of around €30 - €40 per month per employee.
Administration:
To support you throughout the ride, we have developed a digital platform that you can use for free. In it, you can arrange all processes and have all parties (the company you work for, all employees and the bike shop) come together to arrange everything. This also makes administration a breeze: you can arrange most things at the push of a button. Of course, we are always there for you if you have any questions about the platform, so you can enter the leasing bike scheme worry-free.
Payroll processing:
When it comes to payroll processing, we also take care of your worries. You can easily download a salary export from the platform or have it sent to you monthly. This contains the amounts you need for processing (monthly lease amount & recommended retail price of the bicycle for the additional taxable benefit). You set this up once and then you don't have to worry about it anymore.
An employer contribution falls outside the WKR. The employer has the following choice:
So the question is whether you still have room in the WKR to include an employer contribution in it. If so, that's great of course, an employee will get the contribution net. If not, no problem! Then you do the contribution gross, which is what most employers do.
When an employee leaves the company with an active lease contract, the agreements contained in the addendum take effect. Each employee enters into this document even before the lease bike can be chosen. We offer a sample addendum. This states, for example, that the colleague who leaves employment must pay off the remaining lease instalments net. In this construction, your company pays off the remaining instalments to the leasing company. If your company does not want to include this condition, we facilitate three options for the company where you work to minimise your risk:
